Attendee Show Information

WELCOME to Fonner Park and the City of Grand Island!  We are extremely pleased to be the host site of the very first CLASSIC GREEN REUNION on June 13, 14 and 15, 2019.

The following is information pertaining to Fonner Park that will assist you in planning for your visit and make your stay more enjoyable.

  • INFORMATION BOOTH: Look for the banner that says “CLASSIC GREEN INFO HERE” in front of the White Building located north of the Pinnacle Bank Expo Center.  Following is a list of what you will find here:
    • Knowledgeable Convention & Visitors Employees and event volunteers that can provide you with show information and city information.
    • Facility maps designating the location of your Classic Green Events.
    • Lost and Found
    • Restrooms
    • Nursing Lounge
    • Golf Cart Rental
  • EMERGENCIES: Call 9-1-1.  The Fire Station and Ambulance are located within 2 minutes of the Fonner Park Campus.  There will not be EMT’s on the premises. 
  • SEVERE WEATHER: In the event that the city sirens are activated, shelters are available in each of the buildings where your group will be exhibiting.
    • Pinnacle Bank Expo Center – Restrooms and Volunteer Room.
    • Heartland Events Center – North and South Hallways and first floor restrooms.
    • Fonner Park Concourse – in the exhibit area, avoid being near doors.
    • Additional space – the Sheep Barn will be open. The wash bays and restrooms are the shelters in this facility.
    • You retain the right return to your vehicle and/or leave the premises at your own liability.
  • FIRE LANES: All fire code restrictions must be followed.  No parking in fire lanes.  Violators risk being towed.
  • PARKING/General Public: The north parking lot has been designated as parking for the Classic Green Reunion attendees.  Plan to enter through the main entrance on South Locust Street or the North Entrance on Fonner Park Road.  Please DO NOT park in the south lot as that is reserved for another event that will be in progress.
  • PARKING/Exhibitors & Vendors: Plan to enter through the main entrance on South Locust Street.  There will be signage indicating the area reserved for you on the north side of State Fair Blvd.
  • PARKING/Staff Parking: Please avoid parking in areas with signage that states “Staff Parking”.  Violators risk being towed.
  • TICKETS: Tickets may be purchased by day at $10 per day or a 3-day pass for $25 per person.  Wristbands will be issued and must be worn to gain access to the display areas.  Tickets may be purchased at the following locations:
    • Ticket booth located at the northwest corner of the Pinnacle Bank Expo Center (outdoors)
    • East entrance of Pinnacle Bank Expo Center
    • North & South Entrance to Heartland Events Center
  • WHEELCHAIRS & OTHER POWER-DRIVEN MOBILITY DEVICES (Mobility Scooters): Are allowed in all areas of the Fonner Park Campus.
  • PEOPLE MOVERS: There will be two (2) people movers operating non-stop during show hours to help you navigate the grounds.  There is NO FEE to utilize this transportation.
  • GOLF CARTS-Rented: There will be a Golf Cart Vendor renting carts by the day or at a multiple day rate.  Renters must be prepared to show their valid drivers license, pay the rental fee and pay the one-time show fee of $50 (retained by Classic Green).  Permits will be issued for your golf cart and must be attached to the front frame and be visible at all times.   Only authorized persons listed on the permit may operate the vehicle. 
    • Reserving carts in advance is highly recommended to ensure one is available upon your arrival.
  • GOLF CARTS-Owned: Personally owned Golf Carts are permitted pending compliance with the facility Motorized Vehicle Policy.  Owners must be prepared to show their valid drivers license, pay the one-time show fee of $50 (retained by Classic Green) and provide the required insurance rider.  For full policy details, please visit your official Classic Green Reunion website at www.classicgreen.org/classic-green-reunion-2019.  Permits will be issued for your golf cart and must be attached to the front frame and be visible at all times.   Only authorized persons listed on the permit may operate the vehicle.
  • PETS: No animals or pets are allowed inside any of the buildings with the exception of service animals.  Pets are allowed in the outdoor exhibit areas, parking lot and RV camping area as long they are on a leash.
  • SERVICE DOGS: Service dogs are allowed as defined in the ADA requirements.  Comfort dogs are not allowed.
  • FACILITIES: No repairs, alterations, additions, or improvements shall be made without FONNER PARK management’s prior written approval.
    • At a minimum, none of the following items may be affixed to walls, posts, ceilings or other property: tape, wire, tacks, nails, boards, signs, and displays.  Banners may be affixed using zip ties or string.
    • Athletic mat tape that leaves no sticky residue shall be used on facility floors.
    • Water soluble chalk shall be used in parking lot and grassy areas.
  • EQUIPMENT LOAD IN/LOAD OUT: All equipment shall be brought into and out of the Fonner Park Complex through the north entrance on Fonner Park Road.  Power Washing will be conducted in the NORTH parking lot on Tuesday & Wednesday prior to the show.  Trailers will exit back on to Fonner Park Road, turn right and proceed to Stuhr Road.  There will be signage indicating the trailer parking lot on the west side of Stuhr Road.
  • FACILITIES LOAD IN/LOAD OUT: All equipment, materials, supplies, etc. shall be brought into and out of the HEARTLAND EVENTS CENTER and PINNACLE BANK EXPO CENTER and the FONNER PARK CONCOURSE through the overhead doors of each of these facilities.  Doors shall not be left open for long periods of time.  Air conditioning will not be started until all vendors/exhibitors have loaded in.
  • EQUIPMENT DISPLAYS: Propane, butane, LP gases or pyrotechnics are prohibited except for tractors and/or equipment that run off of any of the above listed items. 
    • For this event, all equipment staged inside should have a minimal amount of gas in the tank(s), a barrier must be placed under all equipment to protect floors from any leakage and steel wheels are not permitted on the indoor floors unless covered in a manner that will protect the floor from any contact with the wheels.
  • PROHIBITED ITEMS AND ACTIVITIES:
    • Smoking and the use of any tobacco products, including vapors, is prohibited throughout the FONNER PARK / HEARTLAND EVENTS CENTER buildings. Smoker Outposts will be available outside each of the buildings.
    • No weapons, drugs, or contraband of any kind.
    • Outside doors shall not be propped open.
    • Helium balloons, air-horns, confetti, glitter, or like products.
  • FOOD/CONCESSIONS: We’ve saved the best for last!  There will be multiple concessions open throughout your show as listed below.  We ask for your cooperation in abiding with our NO OUTSIDE FOOD & BEVERAGE POLICY.

This three day expo will feature row upon row of all makes and models of antique John Deere tractors, equipment and memorabilia.  Many will be restored while others may be rustic and everything in between.  There will be indoor and outdoor displays.

According to Chris Boyens of the Classic Green Club, Inc., “The members of Classic Green are grateful and excited that Grand Island has invited us into their community.  We’re looking forward to sharing the enthusiasm for all things John Deere with everyone at our inaugural show!”

Steve Plambeck, a local collector and Chairman of the Classic Green Reunion for 2019 added, “We’re not sure what to expect, but interest to date has been extremely high within the antique John Deere tractor family.”  Plambeck added, “As John Deere collectors and enthusiasts, we have been wanting a national show for several years; an event that includes the veteran collectors with nicely restored tractors, implements, lawn and garden equipment, John Deere memorabilia, etc. But more than that we wanted an event that would be open and welcoming to all Deere collectors and enthusiasts, including the new and younger crown who may have never been a part of such an event before.  We want to include everyone and make them feel welcome.  If there is a 16-year-old kid that has an old John Deere and he wants to bring it, fixed up or not, and a part of this event, he is more than welcome to join us!”

Grand Island was determined to be the perfect fit for this event.  It is in the middle of the United State, along the interstate, and offers state of the art facilities.
